From Broome to Wyndham via Halls Creek is around 1000 kilometres by road.  This is Highway 1, all bitumen, but with creek crossings that can flood during the wet season.

The Roads shown with dashes - - - are secondary roads - gravel, stone, black soil or sandy.  These are frequently closed during the wet season - sometimes for months.

The usual tour of the schools by road takes between 4 & 5 weeks usually and involves approximately 3,000 Kilometres of road travel.

During the wet season school visits, particularly to remoter schools, are often by light plane (usually a Cessna Centurion).
